Hitomi Serizawa leads a fulfilling professional and private life. What’s more, she will be getting married in 100 days. Plans are progressing smoothly until the unexpected appearance of her mother after an absence of 25 years. Producer Katsuaki Setoguchi based his casting on the characters as portrayed in the original manga. “By showing these kids growing up together, and their social interactions in all their clumsiness,” he says, “I wanted to ask, what is really important in life, and how do we live true to ourselves, and love another person?”

His mother having left him, nine year-old Yuudai is forced to live alone and steal from a local convenience store to survive.
