Shunpei is a single father struggling to care for his five-year-old son. One day, he runs into childhood buddy Sosuke, who decides to help his old friend out. Sosuke’s plan involves renting out the apartment above his rundown okonomiyaki restaurant as a share house and using the money to rebuild. When Sosuke puts out a call on social media for single parents like Shunpei, his hashtag #bemyfamily attracts the attention of Rei, a straightlaced schoolteacher, and Meiku, an ambitious singer-songwriter, each with a child of her own. But can this motley assortment of two men, two women, and three children really become a “family” just by living under the same roof?

Shizuru Mikuriya is a Harvard graduate with a 230 IQ, but she languishes in a mental institution for her emotional instability and tendency to inflict harm to herself. A young woman visits his law office claiming her father has been wrongly accused of murder. She is accompanied by a friend and former judge who insists Miyama litigate for a reduced sentence since a guilty conviction seems a foregone conclusion. But a surprised Miyama and partner, Sada, take on the case instead to pursue the whole truth against the wishes of their client.

Political circumstances force upstart doctor, Kazuaki Okita, to leave a busy hospital life and his girlfriend behind and go to the United States where he takes part in countless operations and develops into a top-notch surgeon. Then, at the behest of his ex-lover’s father, he returns to Japan to find his girlfriend has gone and married his best friend who actually masterminded Okita’s original exile from the hospital ten years ago. Unbeknownst to all of this, Okita is reunited with his ex-lover and best friend and the varying peculiarities of the hospital staff. Though awkward at times, Okita is single-minded in his pursuit of good medicine, endearing him to his patients and forcing his colleagues to rethink the true meaning of medicine and the value of life in a hospital drama swirling with passion, ambition, friendship, jealousy and pride.

Ranmaru Tomonaga may be a bit naive and dorky, but he’s got something of an endearing quality that is hard to dislike. Above all, he has a tongue like a gas-chromatography device, capable of analyzing whatever it comes in contact with. Sure enough, that tongue leads him into all kinds of trouble as he gets embroiled in solving one puzzling mystery after another. Along the way, he picks up a sidekick; an “uzakawa” (cute, but annoying) suspense drama fan girl named Hikaru Kamekanbo. They meet up with Kanji Miyazawa, a straight-laced man who is the only person capable of reining in the quirky pair and keeping them out of trouble. The three of them become traveling companions, traversing the countryside in a beat-up automobile, sleeping and eating in some of the nation’s best-kept secret hot springs, and searching for the mysterious “onsen” geisha “Miyabi” in a comical mystery adventure.

Tsubaki Hibino is a plain and studious teen whose life to this point has had little to do with love.. until she meets Kyota Tsubaki, a cute and smart yet exceedingly cocky, long-haired boy who happens to be the most popular guy in school and shares a common name. Teasing Tsubaki for outdated fashion and demeanor, Kyota proceeds to steal away her first kiss, leaving her incensed! But as she begins to catch glimpses of a softer nature behind his persona, she gradually finds herself drawn toward him.
