Nayuta is a young genius video game developer who works independently. His anonymity had gained him the moniker “the Banksy of video games,” until a certain incident caused him to shy away from games and live quietly. Meanwhile, the long-standing toy company Atom decides to delve into the video game industry in order to overcome their financial crisis. With no funds or experience, the people at Atom make a desperate attempt to contact Nayuta, the Banksy of video games, but will they succeed? Can they write a new chapter in the cut-throat world of video games?

Kokoro Kurosawa is a musclebound judo athlete who upon graduation from university joins a major publishing company and is assigned to the editing desk of a weekly comic magazine called “Vibes”, full or very unique individuals and oddly-named senior editor, Iokibe. She becomes enthralled with the world of comic publishing with all of its meetings with serial cartoon writers, discovery of new talent, negotiating of issue volume, and working to secure second print runs. Despite her enthusiasm, Kokoro comes face to face with the hard realities of publishing as more content goes digital, and the days of the printed page appear numbered. If a comic book series doesn’t catch fire by its 3rd volume, it is doomed. Hoping to resuscitate fading “manga” artists on the cusp of oblivion, Kokoro and her colleagues strike upon a unique plan to produce a big hit, but must contend with their marquee writer being headhunted by a rival magazine, and the constant threat of discontinued publication. It’s one crisis after another for this plucky editing team.

The setting is the Tsukishima district of Tokyo where the Summer Olympic Games will be held in five years. A small old-fashioned confectionary shop, “Sakuraya” stands as a remnant of the past amid the rapidly changing cityscape. Akiko Sakurai has been running the shop on a shoestring for over 50 years, along with her grandson, Taro (33) whom she raised form childhood after he lost his parents in a traffic accident. With them also is Reiko, a single mother who has returned to Tsukishima with her child. Seemingly left behind by a fast-moving world, Taro appears as something of a “loser” who finds himself reexamining his lost childhood in an effort to move forward. Life takes a strange turn when his grandmother, Akiko, receives a letter that she is being sued for damages because her cat, Mi-chan, allegedly scratched up a neighbor’s luxury car. What should be an easy case to win turns into a fumbling mess at the hands of Taro who can’t seem to win for losing in this wacky yet endearing and slightly heartwarming late-night drama.

Although Junpei is aiming to become a professional photographer, he has just completed a five-year teaching post at a reform school. His next assignment is deputy homeroom teacher at a prison school. Junpei will be working alongside senior teacher, Miyake. The students of the prison school are all convicted felons. Those who have not yet finished compulsory education but show the will to learn and have a clean slate of behavior in prison are the conditions for admission to the school. However, the screening process is strict, and only those judged worthy by the admissions committee are permitted to take 14 subjects and study for seven hours a day. The students are something of a motley crew and this drama traces not only their rocky path to graduation but also how Junpei grows through coming into contact with them.

Mei is a brilliant yet straight-laced surgeon. His younger sister, Saya, is an ultra-pragmatist with a talent for making money and a peerless knack for everything. Having lost their parents at an early age, they are all that’s left of their family. But their diametrically-opposed personalities have them constantly fighting and at odds with each other.
More than once has their relationship been stretched and strained, but never has there been any one incident powerful enough to threaten severing the bonds between them forever… until now.
