“American Ninja Warrior” wins time slot 10 out of 11 weeks!

2014.08.15

The sixth season of “American Ninja Warrior (ANW6),” the US spin-off of the TBS sports entertainment program “SASUKE,” once again earned the highest rating for its time slot in the 18-49 age demographic, which advertisers value the most. Broadcast regularly on the NBC terrestrial network in prime time on Monday nights from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m., the program achieved this feat with its August 11 broadcast. Since June 2, the program has won its time slot in 9 out of 10 weeks (the June 30 broadcast was an encore presentation of “American Ninja Warrior: USA vs. Japan”).

The August 11 episode featured the “Best Runs of the Season” from the qualifying rounds in Las Angeles, Dallas, St. Louis, Miami, and Denver. Generating significant buzz, ANW6 has featured the first female competitor and the first competitor over 50 to pass a qualifying round. Perhaps based on the excitement generated by these exceptional ninja warriors, the August 11 episode dominated its time slot despite being an encore presentation of moments from previous broadcasts. This ratings triumph yet again demonstrated the solid fandom and popularity of the program.

Every Sunday, the ANW6 episode from the previous Monday is rebroadcast from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in prime time on NBC. The August 10 rebroadcast increased viewership by 14 percent in the 18-49 age demographic over the previous week’s rebroadcast. Moreover, the second hour of the rebroadcast increased viewership by 50 percent over the first hour, becoming the No. 2 program in the 18-49 age demographic for the hour. The rebroadcast even beat the season premiere of “Wipeout” on the ABC network, proving that ANW6 retains its ninja power in rebroadcast form.

In addition, the August 4 broadcast of ANW6 was the third-highest-rated program of the week August 4-10 among all network programming. With both its original broadcasts and rebroadcasts performing so well, ANW6 has earned the reputation of a major summer hit in the world of American terrestrial broadcasting.
