2010.12.22

The number of the countries and territories to which TBS has licensed “Takeshi’s Castle” reached 159. “Takeshi’s Castle” has maintained its popularity throughout the world since its start in 1986, despite the program’s original broadcast having ended more than 20 years ago. A license to Serbian broadcaster PRVA in December was the most recent license of Takeshi’s Castle to a new territory.

Additionally, TBS has completed a license of “SASUKE” to MBC, a Middle East broadcaster based in Dubai, pushing the number of the countries to which “SASUKE” has been sold to 153. This program has also continued to enjoy popularity throughout the world since its start in 1997. The new season of US version, ”American Ninja Warrior Season 2,” has debuted to banner numbers this month on U.S. cable and satellite channel G4, scoring the highest ratings in the history of G4.

The countries and territories to which both “Takeshi’s Castle” and “SASUKE” have been licensed for broadcast spans 6 continents, including Asia, North America, Europe, post-Soviet states, Africa, Middle East and Latin America. Among Japanese live-action TV programs, they had already set a record when they reached the landmark of more than 100 countries and territories sold. This time, they set a new record of 150 countries and territories licensed, and are sure to continue to add to that number.
