“Ninja Warrior Sverige” in Sweden becomes first local version of “SASUKE” in Europe!

TBS sports entertainment program “SASUKE” now has its first local version in Europe! The shooting of “Ninja Warrior Sverige” (NWS) took place in Stockholm, Sweden, from August 14 to August 17. While based on the set of “American Ninja Warrior,” the set of NWS features three stages instead of four, with the formidable rope climbing tower serving as its third stage instead of fourth.

Prominent European production company Elk Production and international line production company Eccholine, handled production, while ATS Filmworks, which has participated in the production of “American Ninja Warrior” since Season 4 designed and constructed the program’s obstacle course set. With the “SASUKE” family of programs already being recognized throughout Europe, NWS easily recruited a large number of seasoned athletes from across Sweden, who battled valiantly before the program’s famous sportscasters and an enthusiastic live audience. NWS will begin airing in January 2015 on the Kanal 5 terrestrial television station.

“SASUKE” content has been sold in 157 countries and territories. Sales extend through Asia, Europe, and North America, as well as the Middle East and Latin America. Local versions of the program have been produced in the US, Malaysia, and Singapore, and a local Vietnamese version is currently in the works. With the addition of Sweden, Europe joins Asia and North America in the list of continents that have hosted local “SASUKE” versions, and the popularity of the “SASUKE” format continues to expand globally.
