Tokyo Broadcasting System Television Inc. (TBS), Tokyo, is honored to welcome HE Mr. Turki Al Alsheikh, Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, as well as the Saudi Ambassador to Japan for the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement for the local production of the Japanese TV programme “Takeshi’s Castle.”

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Minister, wishes to promote sports and leisure amongst the young generation of the country, as such has sent a Saudi delegation to Japan to begin the preparations for a Saudi Version of “Takeshi’s Castle.”

The delegation consists of His Excellency Mr. Turki Bin Abdulmohsen Al Alsheikh, Advisor to the Royal Court, as well as Chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Sports Authority, and President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, and His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, together with His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Bin Yunes Albarak, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Japan.

“Takeshi’s Castle” was broadcasted in the Arabic region in the 1990s and widely popular.

TBS and Banader Gulf Media, which Prince Faisal chairs, have built a robust relationship since His Royal Highness visited the broadcast station back in May 2015 to culminate an Arabic Version of the popular Japanese series “SASUKE.” Its local production version “Arabian Ninja Warrior” is currently broadcast throughout the Arab region and is becoming an increasingly popular show.

During the visit, the signing ceremony by both parties on the MOU agreement regarding the local production of “Takeshi’s Castle” was held followed by Prince Faisal’s expression of the gratitude for the earlier commitment and support to the local version of “SASUKE.” By the agreement, the project of the MENA version of “Takeshi’s Castle” officially kicks off.

Saudi Arabia and Japan have agreed to ‘Saudi Japan VISION 2030’ on the occasion of the King Salman’s visit to Japan on March this year. The Vision aims to further strengthen the economic ties particularly on nine areas of industry. The Japanese government is also showing interest in this cultural exchange based on TV broadcast content export by TBS to Saudi Arabia.

“Takeshi’s Castle” has been broadcasted among 159 countries and region. The programme is also known as one of the most popular and successful exported Japanese broadcast contents. In the recent years, the local version has been realized in Thai, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
