Treasure Box Japan a big hit at MIP Format!

At the MIP Format event held in Cannes April 6-7 in advance of MIPTV, 8 broadcasters from Japan once again joined forces with the support of the Japanese government, presenting "Treasure Box Japan?World Premiere! Brand New Formats!" Following on the success of the first such collaboration at MIPCOM in 2012, the broadcasters, 6 from Tokyo and 2 from Osaka, each spent 5 minutes presenting their newest formats and showing high-quality trailers in a fast-paced exciting presentation that began early afternoon on April 7. The 250-person-capacity conference hall overflowed with interested visitors from Korea, China, and other countries in Asia and well as many from Europe and North America. Many even stood to get a look at the show. The snack lunch sponsored by Treasure Box Japan that followed, a light meal including sushi and beverages, was also over capacity, and the broadcasters engaged in lively negotiations with presentation attendees. The event was well reviewed by all, and even more than the first Treasure Box Japan event seems sure to have succeeded in raising awareness of the new collaborative public-private initiative to promote Japanese formats worldwide.
