US SASUKE Spinoff American Ninja Warrior Season 5 Broadcasts Begin in Prime Time on Two US Networks Simultaneously!

2013.06.26

The highly anticipated Season 5 of the US version of the TBS mega hit sports entertainment show SASUKE "American Ninja Warrior", or ANW, goes on the air at the end of June. As with last year, this year's program will air simultaneously on NBC and on nationwide cable on G4.

ANW broadcasts will begin on G4 on Sunday June 30 from 9pm to 11pm, and on NBC on Monday July 1 from 8pm to 10pm, both prime time slots. When Season 4 was aired in the same period in prime time on two networks that was a first, and this history-making pattern continues with Season 5.

Similar to previous competitions, six regional tryouts were held in four locations: the Southwest and Northwest tryouts in Los Angeles, the Northeast tryouts in Baltimore, the Southeast tryouts in Miami, and the North Midwest and South Midwest tryouts in Denver.

The top 100 performers in these four preliminary competitions will participate in a final competition in Las Vegas on a full-scale course modeled on the original Midoriyama SASUKE set.

For the new season, former NFL pro-turned NFL Network analyst Akbar Gbaja Biamilia and ESPN's two-time Emmy winning sports broadcaster Jenn Brown will join Matt Iseman as co-hosts of the series. ?

Following on the success of ANW Season 4, NBC broadcast newly edited episodes in February and March of 2013, the most challenging period for ratings in the American market. The decision to broadcast redesigned programming from a previous year's series in this period was considered a highly exceptional move.

SASUKE (including the US version) has been sold in 157 countries and territories. Sales extend not only to countries in Asia, Europe, and North America, but also to the Middle East and Latin America. Facebook's American Ninja Warrior fan page has won more than 810,000 Likes and the popularity of the show continues to grow exponentially.

The SASUKE 2013 competition will be broadcast Thursday June 27 in Japan, just before the beginning of ANW Season 5 in the US, and then in November the SASUKE ASEAN OPEN CUP is to be held in Malaysia as part of the celebration of the 40th year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. With plans for production of a European SASUKE moving forward, SASUKE fever continues to heat up worldwide.
