Kaguya-sama Final: Love Is War

かぐや様は告らせたい ~天才たちの恋愛頭脳戦~ ファイナル

112 min

Love is war… especially when victory goes to the one who gets the other to confess their love first through a psychological battle of attrition. At the elite Shuchiin academy, as students vie for top positions in the school pecking order, another much more heated battle is being waged between its leading members, Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya. When a (charming) new student council accountant, Miko Iino, enters the sacred space of the student council room, it becomes an arena for a “force a confession” game. But even this stalls in deadlock, leaving the fate of Miyuki and Kaguya’s confrontational romance to the two biggest events of the schoolyear - the sports and culture festivals.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

Shuchiin Academy is the collecting ground for the nation’s most promising elite. There, a bright and sagacious school president and top score-getter on mock college entrance exams, Miyuki Shirogane (Sho Hirano) meets Kaguya Shinomiya, (Kanna Hashimoto) class vice-president, possessor of brains, brawn and beauty and daughter of a major conglomerate CEO. The attraction is obvious, but their excessive pride and lack of humility get in the way of their confessing their mutual feelings. Six months pass, and it becomes increasingly difficult for them to be honest with each other, imbuing a confession of love with a curse of “defeat.” Brilliant minds spawn brilliant means as the two scheme to get the other to make the confession first, exposing their clumsiness in love where pure feelings drive an ultra-crafty romance (full of life-threatening risk). Can there be a clear winner and loser? Or will the two find love and make peace?
