Hokuto Matsumura (松村北斗)

PINTOKONA

ぴんとこな 핀토코나 歌舞伎爭霸

130 min x 1 ep / 60 min x 9 eps|10 episodes

For the first time ever, a serial drama about the exotic, 4-century old world of kabuki theater comes to television from an original comic series that sold over a million copies in Japan. Pintokona, a kabuki term, refers to a handsome and manly nature but with a solid core. Despite being born into a famous kabuki acting family, scion Kyonosuke Kawamura has zero motivation. Conversely, Ichiya Sawayama, who was born into a household with no kabuki pedigree whatsoever, is determined to rise on talent alone. The story begins when these two diametrically opposed youths fall in love with the same woman, Ayame Chiba, and then go on to vie with each other to become Pintokona, both as actors and in real life. Sparks fly for these two young men of completely different personalities and circumstance against the colorful backdrop of kabuki in a magnificent tale of love, art and youthful passion.

Yuko is a biology teacher and education counselor at a local high school. Between the school bell chimes, she’s an ordinary teacher with superlative instructional technique. But when school lets out, she transforms into the one person you don’t want to mess with, a super problem-solving mercenary for whom no method is off limits when it comes to rooting out the myriad problems infesting teenage life in the schools. With an “eye for an eye” approach, she’s not above breaking a few laws and demands payment for her services. Enlisting as her sidekicks, Sumire and Aya, the personality-diverse trio run their elite “extra-curricular social work” club unified around Yuko’s charismatic leadership. High school students do not live in a sanitized bubble, and some extraordinary problems require extraordinary solutions that black-and-white rules of propriety or common sense alone cannot solve.
