Brain Survivor, which has gained popularity as a game show for kids in the United States, has now been greenlit for production in Latin America.

2011.03.01

Brain Survivor is a TBS game show that was broadcast three times in 2002 as a special. The format was licensed in the US, and earned high ratings as a show for kids. Building on this popularity, TBS has confirmed that Discovery Kids Latin America will produce 26 episodes targeting a preschool audience.

TBS has had success with its formats Waku Waku Animal Land, Happy Family Plan and Takeshi’s Castle in many territories in Latin America including licenses in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. However, this is the first time TBS has licensed a single production that will be shown throughout all of Latin America.

The US format version, titled BrainSurge, began broadcasting two years ago on Nickelodeon as a 30 min regular program airing Mon-Fri in the US. It earned a 20% share and took the largest share in the age demographic of 2-11yr olds + 6-11yr olds in that time slot. Last year, a second season was produced, and meeting with similar success, production of a 3rd season is now confirmed.

Brain Survivor is a game show that requires memory and concentration. The challenges are presented in 3 stages. Five contestants compete and the winner of the final round wins a prize. The US version closely follows the TBS format but has been adapted for kids. Brain Survivor has also been licensed in South Korea and Spain.

TBS has been involved in foreign program sales for over 40 years distributing hundreds of titles to over 160 countries.
