Hikari Tomonaga has just entered high school at Central High in Fukui Prefecture and has joined the school’s cheerdancing team of instruction includes a prohibition against everything from covering your forehead to romance and anything that may distract focus and energy from the goal of winning a national championship in the U.S. Hikari watches as one member after another buckles under the pressure and drops out, but she herself, with the support of another freshman teammate, Ayano, decides to stick with it. But will this ordinary high school teen be able to help lead her team to an all American cheerdancing championship?

“Let me tell you what I will do tomorrow,” announces a man wearing a newspaper hat and posting a bizarre clip from an Internet cafe.
Meanwhile, at the cyber crime task force of the Metropolitan Police, it is the job of an elite female investigator, Erika Yoshino, to crack down on irresponsible acts committed online.
One day, her virtual dragnet snares an unsettling video. It is a man railing against an incident of food poisoning by a food company: “Those incapable of handling food will be thoroughly cooked themselves!” Moments later, a food factory is set on fire.
One after another, the newspaper man vigilante together with his cohorts, proceed to serve up their own brand of vigilante justice on the world. But in reality, they are embittered society dropouts who had degenerated to living in close quarters and doing hard labor.
The prophetic crimes eventually escalate to an alarming level with police fearing acts of organized terror. However, Yoshino begins to suspect that these are neither acts of terrorism nor crimes of pleasure but instead driven by a completely different purpose…

This is a love story inspired by the song “Threads” by Miyuki Nakajima.
Nakajima’s song is about the miracle of meeting a loved one and the ties of love that bind them. The song, which imagines these ties as threads woven through life, was released in 1998 as a dedication at her friends’ wedding. Ever since, this song has been loved by millions and been covered by over 120 artists in Japan.

In 2019, the Heisei period has come to a close after 31 years. A boy and a girl, who were born in the 1st year of Heisei, meet each other in childhood, eventually fall in love, but become separated along life’s path. They live in totally different circumstances, but continue to keep each other in their thoughts.

Though life brings them together from time to time, it is difficult for them to re-establish their ties. Even so, they don’t forget to live their lives to the fullest and love those around them with everything they can. This film tells the story of thirty years in the lives of two people connected by a thread of destiny, and is sure to awaken in those who view it a new appreciation for meeting people.
