Visiting the crime scene, a detective named Kameyama recalls a similar arson related homicide that occurred 15 years ago at the same warehouse. Flashback 15 years. Mariko was in middle school when the warehouse fire broke out, trapping her and one of her classmates, Kazuki inside. Thankfully, she was rescued at the last minute by Junichi who rushed to save her, but alas, Kazuki perished. But the incident was investigated as a homicide, and another of Mariko’s classmates, a boy named Yasutaka, had been named as a suspect. The day after the fire, however, he committed suicide. With the truth never having been revealed, the investigation broke off much to the remorse of detective Kameyama. Mariko is therefore astounded 15 years later when she learns that the woman recently found burned to death was Yasutaka’s mother, Ayako. Years ago, the shock of the tragedy had led to Mariko's amnesia about the incident.
