Our story begins with travel agency headquarters' tour planner, Endo, being suddenly transferred to work at Narita International Airport in what he deems a depressing demotion. From his first day, the dorky Endo struggles to make the adjustment to his new, female-dominated environment. His subordinate, Morio, views him with utter contempt while his superior, Koizumi, is pathetically trivial and unreliable. Together with his quirky colleagues, Endo frantically tries to resolve a never-ending barrage of customer relations issues at the airport counter when all he seeks is a ticket back to company headquarters. As time passes, however, Endo begins to gradually share his colleagues' passion for the work, evolving from wanting to just "get people in the air" to "ensuring they depart with smiles on their faces." Endo's transformation to a hard-worker devoted to the customer even sparks new feelings toward him from his severest critic, Morio.

Hiro was an ace pitcher in junior high school, until he was diagnosed with a “glass elbow.” After giving up on the sport for a time, his passion for the game draws him back to it in high school and he joins a baseball team only to find himself in a match against his old rival Hideo who plays for the highest ranked high school. The meeting of the two is observed by Hideo’s girlfriend, Hikari, and she finds herself increasingly drawn towards Hiro, despite his only being interested in baseball. These two young men battle for the dream of winning the famous Koushien Baseball Tournament and for the heart of the young woman who doesn’t know for whom she should cheer.

As a child, Haru’s parents died in a boating accident and she was put into a foster home with many other children. During that time, she spent many magical moments with her best friend, a boy named Ryo. She was finally adopted but when her adoptive parents pass away she decides to meet with her old friends again. All of them have changed, especially Ryo who aspired to become a boxer but has just become a small time criminal. Their reunion rekindles some of that old magic between them, but something in their past threatens to take their newfound happiness away.

Satomi is 33 years old and a teacher of Japanese history at a prestigious private high school. By anyone’s standards, she has both talent and beauty, but has been dubbed Ms. “Party of One” for wanting to do everything completely on her own. Work has been pretty hectic for her of late, and she has no time nor inclination for romance. When she awakes the next morning, she is greeted by a terrible hangover and the sight of Shinichi, lying on the floor!

A woman’s young son is kidnapped and the only clue to his disappearance is a note starting with the words “This is a quiz….” What follows is a fast-paced and stylish whodunnit which leads chief investigator Kaoru Kiriko of the Special Investigation Team down a trail of increasingly perplexing riddles that all the while seem to mock the efforts of the police. Street-smart Kaoru may be the kidnapper’s intellectual match, but as she gets closer to her mark, she finds herself becoming the hunted rather than the hunter.

Four grown sisters return to life under one roof in the Hanawa home, headed by their “hunk” of a father and perennially girlish mother (who adores her husband and never doubts for a moment that his feelings are mutual). Although raised under the example of a seemingly model marriage, the “four Hanawa sisters” themselves are either divorced, devoutly single, in the market for a husband or simply unlucky in love. The second eldest daughter, Takemi, is the “black sheep” of the family who returns home after multiple divorces and three kids in tow. Having lived her life as honest to her own feelings as possible, she can’t help but stir trouble - leading to some hilarious predicaments - and always commands the center of attention, earning her such nicknames as “problem child”, “love-starved man-killer” and “she-devil.” “Marriage”, however, is the constant operative word in this domestic drama of women in search of a formula to happiness.
