A romantically-clumsy office worker, Saya, has never been able to forget her feelings for a boy she knew in middle school. Her supervisor, Tsuge, is a cool, sagacious and ambitious man with a calculating mind and an illustrious history as a playboy. Full of promise and one the elite career path, Tsuge is relentless in his daily scolding of Saya, which makes it all the more surprising when she finds herself being asked out on a date by him. This is then compounded by a serendipitous encounter with her first crush, which suddenly brings excitement and romantic hope to Saya’s drab life in this Cinderella love comedy set in Japan’s hotel industry.

Ritsu Okazaki was abandoned by his mother when a child and has since scraped out a seedy life in the only place that will comfortably accept him: the underworld. But one fateful day, Ritsu incurs a serious-head injury during a scuffle, and is informed by a doctor that he could go at any moment. With time running out, he sets out to find his mother, Reiko Hyuga. What he finds, however, is a happy and wealthy woman who spends her time lavishing love on another son named Satoru. Ritsu is torn between feelings of jealous hatred and yearning for the love of his mother. That’s when he’s reunited with Rinka, a girl he’d helped before. But Rinka has long been in love with Satoru, a childhood friend, but she has kept those feelings to herself. A mother and two sons, a girl and two men: two love triangles that intersect and clash to produce a bittersweet love story.

Tsubaki Hibino is a plain and studious teen whose life to this point has had little to do with love.. until she meets Kyota Tsubaki, a cute and smart yet exceedingly cocky, long-haired boy who happens to be the most popular guy in school and shares a common name. Teasing Tsubaki for outdated fashion and demeanor, Kyota proceeds to steal away her first kiss, leaving her incensed! But as she begins to catch glimpses of a softer nature behind his persona, she gradually finds herself drawn toward him. From her first date to her first kiss, Tsubaki starts to discover and struggle with a whole new world of feelings that only come with one’s first love.

The eponymous dual heroines are 20-year old NANA Osaki and Nana Komatsu. Strong and independent, NANA comes from a dysfunctional background and is the vocalist of a punk band looking to find a major record deal. On the other hand, naive and sweet-natured Nana has been blessed with a stable family environment and the most pressing issue in her life is her boyfriend! Fate brings these two very different girls together and the film traces their fortunes as they navigate the trials and tribulations of love and the difficulties facing young women in the bustling and often intimidating metropolis of Tokyo.

The film “NANA” opened in 2005 boosted by the tremendous popularity of manga, and grossed a mind-boggling over US$40M in ticket sales. The previous story followed the lives of NANA and Nana up to the point where they begin living together. This sequel dramatically portrays their lives together (we watch them as they mature). As NANA’s band, The Blackstones, debuts and Nana gets married, the two continue to follow their dreams, but find that having your dreams come true and finding happiness don’t always go hand in hand.

Rika is a 34-year-old office worker who has put an end to a love affair with a senior executive at a major company, Sota Kasahiwagi (54) who is loathe to sacrifice a comfortable life with a beautiful wife, Mitsuko, and teenage daughter. Nevertheless, a jealous Mitsuko tries to ensnare Rika by matching her up with a young entrepreneur named Keiichi Ochiai, who is the younger brother of Sota’s best friend and long-time visitor to the Kashiwagi home. All of this leads to a dangerous and complicated love intrigue. Fate has plenty of twists and turns in store for this foursome in what resembles a Japanese version of “Desperate Housewives."
