Takashi Mikami joins Japan’s elite bureaucracy in the Ministry of Education hoping to strengthen critical thinking skills among students, but soon learns that his ministry is more interested in the goals of self-preservation. When Mikami gets “exiled” to a private high school on a ministry program, he represents both the bureaucrats who helped create the system and the teachers suffering from it. New York. Ataru belongs to the Savant Program Branch of the FBI, which has just been hit by an explosive. Meanwhile, similar tactics have been used to blow up electric rail lines in Tokyo. Wheelchair-confined chief of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, Akiho Hoshi, has just put agent Sawa and his team at the First Investigative Division on the case when Larry and Ataru appear on the investigation headquarters. According to Larry, the two bombing plots originated from a financial business zone in London, orchestrated via server by a computer virus dubbed "Wizard". The virus was developed by a Brazilian-Japanese named Madoka with whom Sawa and his force had previously crossed paths as a suspect in a serial murder case. Like Ataru, Madoka bears traits similar to those of a savant and was also formerly an SPB candidate who had received training. The two remotely perpetrated bombings put the FBI and Tokyo Metropolitan Police Agency in hot pursuit of Madoka.

Tasuku, the young brother of Ataru who never appeared in the television drama emerges here as the lead suspect in a serial killing case.
Ataru flies from New York to rescue his brother and discover the truth behind the murders which bear a strong resemblance to the "Crucifixion Murders" that shocked the United States in 1997. He is joined in the effort by 1st Crime Division investigator, Sawa, and ex-cop and current private detective, Maiko, for a reunion of the "Ataru Trio." But their movement is checked by Ataru's arch rival, who received the same special skills FBI training as he, and who seeks a final showdown.

Autistic savant, Ataru, has a very unique gift. He is capable of uttering “words” that help the police in their investigations “discover, observe, perceive and deduce” evidence they had hitherto failed to notice. In fact, like a chess genius, Ataru has the ability to think tens of moves ahead of the average person. While it’s obvious to anyone that his favorite foods are tomato ketchup and honey mustard, Ataru struggles with communication, often speaking in conundrums, behaving erratically and even lapsing into hysteric fits. While his uniquely-wired brain enables him to fire off “key words” that are integrally linked to solving crime, the task of piecing his utterances together like a jigsaw puzzle falls to Detective Maiko Ebina and superior officer, Sawa. Together, they create an unlikely and dynamic trio solving one case after another.

A high school student’s mother passes away leaving her alone with her grief. The girl, Marimo, discovers the name of a father she never knew. Marimo sets off to meet him, but is completely shocked when she finds someone very different from the father she envisioned. Her father, Shinpei, a 38-year-old would-be private detective, is shocked too, and doesn’t believe her until he sees the paperwork. With Marimo muttering “The worst father in the world” and Shinpei lamenting the loss of his freedom, these two are about to learn how difficult and rewarding a father/daughter relationship can be.

One day, when paying a visit to the home of her friend Natsuki, she notices that somebody has installed a hidden camera into Natsuki’s computer. But Ayaka says nothing about it. Suspecting it was Tomoya who installed the secret camera, Ayaka finds herself intrigued and begins to make a romantic play for Tomoya. With his good looks and lucrative income, Ayaka finds herself wanting him for herself.
