DigiCon6 ASIA, which began in 2000, has grown to become Asia’s largest short movie film festival. Currently, 10 countries and regions participate including Japan, China, Taiwan, India, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. All submitted works have an easily viewable running time of 15 minutes or less, running the gamut of formats from CG animation (2D & 3D) and stop motion/clay animation to live action, and spanning a wide variety of genres from children’s animation and human drama to action and science fiction. Mayako, a married woman, finds her life of comfort and casual affairs thrown into disarray when she unexpectedly falls in love with a younger man. Here is a modern fable of the moral dilemmas facing today’s women, in a time where the expectations of love, marriage, and divorce from earlier generations no longer seem true.

Mitsu is a 29-year-old woman who married “the number 2 man in her life,” but has been unable to forget her first love, Arishima. When she accidentally encounters him after several years, she feels it is destiny calling, and the two spend one night together in secret from their spouses. Airtime himself has just begun a family of his own, with a newborn child, but he and Mitsu find themselves continuing their affair. While they at first enjoy what seems to be a no-strings at-tached affair, it gradually begets subtle changes in feeling. Mitsu’s husband, Ryota, becomes aware of the affair and ups his devotion to her to keep her. Meanwhile, Arishima’s wife, Reika, is a picture perfect mother and devoted wife, throwing this four-way relationship into an increas-ingly complicated web of mixed emotions.

Based on the writings of a true life, vision-impaired lawyer comes a story about a blind man who manages to pass the extremely difficult bar exam and earn his lawyer’s license. Long desiring to help the weak, Kensuke Okochi gets a job at an attorney’s office while he and his wife, also blind, look forward to their first child. When a plaintiff in a divorce case decides to withdraw from litigation, Kensuke worries at first that it has to do with his own perceived inadequacies as a lawyer, but a few days later, he is visited by the female plaintiff, Satomi, showing injuries to her body. While it appears an open and shut case of domestic violence with an audio recording as proof, Kensuke detects a “certain scent” coming from the plaintiff which gives him pause as to her real intentions.

A spin-off program from SASUKE. KUNOICHI (a word for a female ninja) puts professional and amateur athletes, celebrities and general participants on a challenging obstacle course. Who among these women has the skills and stamina to clear all areas and be crowned champion?

A legendary television series and cultural asset that first aired 32 years ago, Mr. Kinpachi in Class B is famous for putting many social issues on the front burner of the public conscious over its long run, as filtered through the emotionally volatile lives of third year middle school students. The heartfelt relations between a devoted schoolteacher, Kinpachi Sakamoto, and his unique students have won the show high praise for several decades. Whether due to the pressures of exams, family relations, teachers and friends, graduating middle school students navigate a turbulent hormonal sea of “hope” and “frustration”, constantly shaped by the social environment of the times. Standing as a beacon in the storm and emitting messages of hope for each generation is one Japanese teacher, Kinpachi Sakamoto, who has come to be adored and admired by a nation through the adventures of Class 3B.

A field of competitors that ranges from unknown amateurs to world class professional athletes provides remarkable stories of human spirit and achievement. The competition features incredibly challenging games that have been specially designed for this show and include Super Rider, Handwalking, Kick Target and Service Ace.

This prequel to the hugely popular SPEC act ion series, delves into the story behind protagonist Saya’s loss of her left hand. Saya’s parents are supposedly killed in a plane crash when she’s in high school. But later Saya is approached by Kondo, a Metropolitan Police Agency detective, who tells her it’s likely her family was murdered by a SPEC agent. Five years later, Saya is a cop at the Public Safety Department’s Section 5 Task Force for unresolved cases. Meanwhi le, Saya’s brother blames Saya for their parents’ death, setting out to destroy her under the pseudonym Ninomae. He’s guided by Saya’s jilted ex-boyfriend, Satoshi, who’s poisoned both Ninomae and Saya’s minds so that they can’t recall being close.

"The Family", the program commemorating the 55th anniversary of the launch of the TBS TV station, is a social drama depicting the inside story between bureaucrats, politicians and big businesses over a bank merger revolving around the family discord between Daisuke Manpyou, the owner and president of Hanshin Bank, and his eldest son, Teppei. A program that was a big hit, "The Family" recorded average audience ratings of 23.9% in the Kanto region and 30.4% in the Kansai region.

A girl-next-door type, the ordinary senior high school girl, Izumi Hoshi suddenly turns into a yakuza (gangster) boss. The high school girl, who had been completely unrelated to the yakuza world, now defeats evils one after another. It is a truly exhilarating story.
The original novel written by Jiro Akagawa is a big hit that sold some 2 million copies! Furthermore, it is a serial drama based on “Sailor Fuku to Kikanju (sailor suit and machine gun),” which was made into a movie starring Hiroko Yakushimaru and was rage of the times.
