Ryotaro is a cheerful professional soccer player devoted to the game he loves. He has risen to national team member, and come through with decisive goals when it counts… until injury begins to plague him. Facing retirement at 37, he realizes it is a little late for him to enter normal working society. Enter a sports management company called “Victory” which offers him a new lease on life. Suzu Urano is an innocent young woman who loves to draw pictures and lives in the seaside town called Eba district of Hiroshima. At the height of World War II in the Pacific with all the men off at the front, she finds herself as eldest daughter assisting with the family business of seaweed to make ends meet when an offer of marriage arises. The suitor is Shusaku Hojo, a young stenographer at the military court-martial who had fallen in love with her at first sight, but Suzu doesn’t remember ever having met him. Though uncomfortable with the idea of betrothing a man she doesn’t know, she gets swept along by the people and circumstances around her until marriage becomes a foregone conclusion. She finds the task of winning acceptance by Shusaku’s family hard going despite all of her pure and earnest efforts in this touching story of family love and survival amid the crucible of war.

Hiroto Miyama is an unconventional young lawyer who dances to his own tune and gets a little obsessive. For one thing, he’s only interested in criminal cases, and he will never give up in his pursuit of the truth even if offers only a 0.1% chance of being discovered. Japan’s 99.9% criminal case conviction rate leads the world, attesting to a “highly reliable” judicial system.
In other words, once a crime suspect is indicted, prosecutor arguments tend to be accepted hook, line and sinker. In the face of those 99.9% odds, there’s no money in being a defense lawyer specializing in criminal cases, but for Miyama, that’s where the interest and kernels of truth lie. From unexpected places, the mold-breaking Miyama stakes his reputation on a prayer of a chance as he clashes with hotshot lawyers who’ll go to any lengths to win in this gloriously fun, legal mystery.

Iku Kasahara joins the ‘Task Force’, the special unit of the Kanto Area Library Defense Force, in search of her ‘prince’, a Task Force member who once rescued a book about to be seized from her by the ‘Betterment Squad’, the paramilitary arm of the Censorship Enforcement Agency. She does not remember what this man looks like, and is attached to the Dojo Squad, where she is trained to within an inch of her life by its martinet of an instructor, Atsushi Dojo.
She meets a Deaf woman, Marie Nakazawa, a childhood friend of an older member of the Task Force, Mikihisa Komaki, who is advising Marie on books she should read. Iku senses that Marie is in love with Komaki. Meanwhile, the librarian Asako Shibasaki is meeting frequently with a curator who has introduced himself as Shuji Asahina. Hikaru Tezuka, also of the Task Force, is fond of Asako, and is not sure what to think about all this.
Now Komaki is arrested by the Betterment Squad. A book he recommended to Marie had not been approved. Komaki is taken away, leaving the other members of the Task Force enraged at his detention on these dubious grounds.
To make matters even worse, Iku’s parents show up. They were strongly opposed to her joining Library Defense, and now her secret—the fact that much of her job involves armed combat—is revealed.
Will Komaki and Marie be torn apart? What fateful decision will Dojo make as confusion engulfs his unit? And how will Iku get through this?

The assignment seems easy enough, but this is in fact a trap designed to wipe out and thus disband the Task Force and restore a twisted society to the correct moral path. Can Dojo and his unit defend both an invaluable book and themselves? The members of the Task Force must put their lives on the line in the greatest battle they have ever faced: The Last Mission.

A jewelry heist occurs in Tokyo's Shibuya district on the very first day of Akiho Takeda's posting with the Metropolitan Police Department's 3rd investigative larceny division. Having originally sought to be posted in a homicide division, Akiho is chomping at the bit to do some real crime-busting, but is checked by her boss Ino that armed robbery is the jurisdiction of Homicide Division 1. She nevertheless can't resist sneaking away to have a look and goes to the crime site where, among the onlookers, she notices a man who displays a sharp set of eyes. He is Shuichi Ogio, one of Akiho's superiors and veteran of the 3rd Investigative Division. Ogio becomes her partner and mentor, showing her the ropes of being a larceny detective. Together, they uncover tricks used by professional thieves and detect motives and intentions to the point where they are helping the homicide investigations outside of their jurisdiction solve difficult crimes. They are a new type of police duo that are about to open a new chapter in police drama.

In 2019, public anger at media excess has led to censorship of television, newspapers, the internet, books, movies, and music under the 'Media Betterment Act'. To fight the armed 'Betterment Squads' that go around destroying objectionable materials, the nation's libraries have formed their own para-military 'Library Defense'. Iku Kasahara is a new recruit to the defense, where her instructor and squad leader is Atsushi Dojo. At first repelled by his by-the-book approach to leadership, she is gradually won over by his commitment to their battle for 'books' and 'the freedom to know'.

Yuko is a biology teacher and education counselor at a local high school. Between the school bell chimes, she’s an ordinary teacher with superlative instructional technique. But when school lets out, she transforms into the one person you don’t want to mess with, a super problem-solving mercenary for whom no method is off limits when it comes to rooting out the myriad problems infesting teenage life in the schools. With an “eye for an eye” approach, she’s not above breaking a few laws and demands payment for her services. Enlisting as her sidekicks, Sumire and Aya, the personality-diverse trio run their elite “extra-curricular social work” club unified around Yuko’s charismatic leadership. High school students do not live in a sanitized bubble, and some extraordinary problems require extraordinary solutions that black-and-white rules of propriety or common sense alone cannot solve.
